I started my Senior year at DigiPen thinking that I was on easy street until graduation. In one sense that is true. My course load is very easy as I conclude my time at DigiPen. However, a new challenge has arisen that I am excited for. For fall semester, I need to focus on items and career paths that I am interested in. It is time to do some serious soul searching to determine what I really want to focus on after my time at DigiPen.
Fortunately, I was able to discover a new career path that I had never heard of before. From initially learning about it, the job combines all of the things that I love doing. As of today, I don't know the name of the position or the details but I understand the high level tasks of what the position does. Basically, the position collects and analyzes data around the game. The person then organized and interprets the data and helps the designers, producers and investors make decisions on the best way for the game to make money.
I fell in love with the idea of this position because it combines all of the passions that I have around a career. I have a passion for business, finance, games and software development. From my macro level understanding of the position, it combines everything that I enjoy studying.
I feel like it is also wise to pursue this career because every for profit game company needs a position like it. Every software company could use a position like it. I could be wrong but a position like this could make layoffs a lot less frequent when I reach the industry. I am meeting with an instructor tomorrow who is currently doing this job to learn more about it and how to move in that direction. Wish me luck!
